What level of accessibility standards does Viafoura comply with?

Viafoura is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities, and has a long track record of working with organizations committed to stringent accessibility compliance. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Currently Viafoura's Engagement suite is conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, with minor exceptions in optional features in our Live Blog tool, detailed below. We are partially compliant with level AAA guidelines.

We believe that ensuring access to our tools for everyone goes beyond compliance with WCAG guidelines, and must ensure that our tools are easy and enjoyable to use. To that end we conduct qualitative testing with users who use assistive technology in real world usage settings.

Measures to support accessibility

Viafoura takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Our Engagement Suite:

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.

  • Appoint an accessibility officer and/or ombudsperson.

  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.

  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

  • Assessment by third-party accessibility services that includes both interviews and testing by users with disabilities.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Our Engagement suite is conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA and partially conformant with level AAA, with the exception of Live Blogs, which are partially conformant. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Viafoura's entire Engagement Suite, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations:

  • Liveblog allows staff to link to external third-party sites and render their thumbnail images. These images may not have alt-text. For organizations that require compliance, this feature should not be used.

  • Liveblog allows staff to upload images, which will not have descriptive alt-text. For organizations that require compliance, this feature should not be used.

Formal complaints

Should an accessibility complaint need to be submitted, it can be done through our Support page at https://documentation.viafoura.com/page/create-a-new-case, which will be triaged and escalated to the appropriate team.
